Three Weeks Behind

On August 19, our youngest girl, turned 4.   We had a small gathering of family and a few friends.  I say “small” but small is relative in our family.  There were about 15 people here.  Mycah was very excited about her party, but I think Grey was even more excited.  She spent the entire week prior to the party counting down for Mycah.  Mycah had a wonderful time after a bit of a rough start.  She’s a stubborn child and one who wants things to go a particular way.  Since she is only 4, she can’t seem to fathom that we cannot collective read her mind.  Apparently she did not want to be sung to.  We sang and she spent the whole birthday song pouting and almost allowed the candles to burn down before she recovered enough to blow out her candles.  After that minor meltdown, things went great.  I am attaching photosfor those who would like to see.  Wendy was my official photographer.  She always gets stuck doing this because her photos are always great and I can’t stand still long enough to think, let alone take a picture!

At every birthday for both girls I find myself thinking and talking about how they managed o come to be.  Obviously, I know how they “came to be,” but that they are here and belong to Henry and me is amazing.  I remember when Mycah was born.  Henry was so much more relaxed than when Grey was born.  I have a picture of him holding her within hours of being born.  He looks so happy, she is peaceful and he is proud.

Mycah has turned into a funny little girl.  Of the two girls, Mycah has inherited some of the traits that I see as my best, but the most off-putting at times.  She is tenacious….stubborn.  She is curious…..into everything.  She is active….a monkey who is always on the verge of needing an er visit.  She has a mind of her own….does not accept authority well.  She is loving…..I love her.

Here are a couple of pictures from Mycah’s party and a couple of the past 4 years.

  1. Happy Birthday Mycah! Can’t believe you’re four (cuz that means Ruby is soon four herself!). I will always see you with your little short hair holding her hand in preschool. You two sure are growing up TOO fast, as did your sister and my oldest. And to your dear mama, I’ve got one just like her in my house, about the same age, LOL. Love her hair by the way. She and Ruby are twins now, same exact length and style.

I love the one of her with her little arms crossed. It’s funny she didn’t want to be sung to; if she’s anything like mine, she’d have been equally annoyed if you DIDN’T sing.

Out of the blue the other day, my Henry said, “You remember Mycah and Grey? I miss them. They shouldn’t move.”

So you’re missed — by him and me! Happy 4th, Mycah!

And Dianne…I’m a few rows away from finishing a whole entire PAIR of socks!! I’ll model them and take a picture and post it to my blog soon. Although not sure how soon SOON will be…I started a new full-time job.

Good to hear from you via your site. Take care!
